Sampsonite laptop bag issues

I purchased a Samsonite laptop bag that has lots of storage, a checkpoint laptop holder that slips inside it, wheels, and a strap. My only disappointment is Samsonite discontinued the retractable strap. The wheels are handy in the airport because it gets heavy to carry, but I find myself dragging the strap around on the ground and continually having to figure out a way to tie the strap so it doesn't drag on the ground. The wheel bags now don't have straps, what? I prev owned a leather bag with a retractable strap and no wheels for about 8 yrs. The thing that survived this bag and actually worked when it retired was the retractable strap. The zippers and leather were torn, but the strap worked as good as it was when it was new. The Samsonite rep told me they were concerned about issues with the strap. Did they ask me? The problem with these manufacturing companies is they ask the 20 something year old engineer in the cubicle that has never traveled on business in his life.
